CHILDREN SUPPORTING THEIR FAMILY’S FINANCIAL NEEDS

Challenge

No every child is equally apt at imbibing academic curriculums. Some express their abject disinterest, some further are forced into employment sectors to support their family irrevocably. Unfortunately very little groundwork has been done for children who have already escaped/or find it difficult to keep themselves involved into academics. These children sometimes are involved in jobs replete with high risk factors. Others still due to the lack of educational training (be it due to any circumstance) find it even more difficult to end up with a job of optimum pay. These children have already denounced their fundamental rights to quality life and standardized incomes.

CHILDREN EMPLOYED IN HIGH-RISK JOBS

Resolution

Not every problem especially in off-the-grid or low-income sectors is solvable by academic means. Some problems are so ingrained into the system that there has to be a bottom to top defragmented approach to solving them. We realize that in many cases children cannot enjoy even the figment of the idea of a stable life if not given proper vocational and 21st century skills training. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up community centres to teach children from the lower economic rungs of the community to impart vocational training, identifying children from high-risk jobs and training them on the dictums of safe practices and to-dos. Soft skill training enables children from crisis zones to ensure at the very least- fundamental survival, with the knowledge of their due rights and risks.

CHILDREN FROM LOW-INCOME SECTORS DISINTERESTED IN ACADEMICS

Impact

The skill development project has founds its relevance in the unstable economic echelons of the society where everyday life hangs by a thread due to lack of monetary resources. The programme has helped aid scores of children in comprehensively balancing their life and work and has also in most cases helped them understand the underlying risks of plying their trade. The programme in its true sense is meant to encourage children to look beyond obstacles and understand their liberties in educating themselves. The road to education may run around ragged turns, but a comprehensive understanding of one’s responsibilities and work can do wonders in rejuvenating the lives of these unfortunate children.
